Road trip to DC!

We just got back from a great weekend in DC where we got to introduce Elio to tons and tons of lovely folks. We stayed with Liz, who is very important in Elio's life, as she's one of the people responsible for introducing Dan and I!



A bunch of people were in town for a conference, so Elio got to meet Nick, Galeet, Mason, Brandt, Eduardo, Steve, River, and Zach.

Here's Galeet and Mason. Sadly, I didn't get their little cutie baby Yaniv in the picture. He's not yet 4 weeks old, and I couldn't really ask them to wake him up and drag him out of the stoller just for my photo op.



Here's Elio with Brandt. Brandt had many words of wisdom to impart; Elio soaked them up.





And here's Elio with River. He's looking pretty thrilled to be meeting so many wonderful people, isn't he? Quite the social butterfly.



In just the last few days, Elio's really gotten better at sitting up. And he's trying hard to get even better at it -- he does little ab crunches all the time, trying so hard to pull himself up.



And here he is being a goofball and lunging for the camera.

Food! Comida!

Thanksgiving seemed like the perfect time to introduce Elio to the world of solid food. He's been looking ready for a while, but we've been stalling... but no more. Rice cereal was on the menu, and he seemed to take right to it. Our little buddy is growing up...

O dia de ação de graças pareceu a hora perfeita para apresentar Elio ao mundo de comida sólida. Ele tem aparecido pronto para uma semana ou mais, mas nós temos adiado...mas não adiamos mais. Mingau de arroz estava no cardápio, e ele gostou de comer imediatamente. Nosso bebe está crescendo...

Dan's beginning to teach Elio guitar... he's amazingly adept at grabbing onto the strings and sometimes plucking them...

Daniel está começando ensinar Elio a tocar violão, e ele é surpreendemente capaz de agarrar as cordas e as vezes até fazer um som.



A couple weeks back, Elio figured out how to roll from his back to his side. When you combine this with his previous skill of flipping from tummy to back, he's now 75% of the way to a full rollover!

Faz umas semanas, Elio aprendeu virar das costas para o lado. Quando se junta esta habilidade com a outra de virar da barriga para as costas, ele agora está 75% ao momento de virar completamente!

Here's the latest batch of photos. We had lunch in Richmond on Saturday with our friend Kate. Elio was delighted to meet her. And it was cooler here for a couple days, so we busted out some cute hats and the dinosaur sweater. Yes, we put pants on him when it was time to go outside.
