The name

A few folks have asked us about the name, so let me tell you how we came to it. We had been deadlocked on boy's names for a month or two. We wanted a name that could travel well to Brazil, but that wouldn't be difficult to pronounce here in the U.S.. We ended up settling on an Italian name (fitting in with the Italian side of Laura's family) that is pronounced like the Brazilian name Hélio, which has a silent H in Portuguese. We also liked that it was a bit unique, while at the same time easily shortening to Eli or Leo if he so chooses later in life.

The easiest way to remember the pronunciation is to simply spell the name Leo. L-E-O.

For those of you who didn't have the privilege of knowing him, the name Lyle comes from Laura's much-loved grandfather.
