Pumpkins!

It kinda sorta maybe is just barely starting to feel like fall around here. The church around the corner set up a pumpkin patch, which must mean that, elsewhere in the country, things are feeling cool and brisk and autumnal. In honor of the season, here are an embarrassing number of pictures of Elio and pumpkins.

Grandparent visit

My parents came to visit, and Elio had a blast entertaining them.

Scary white alligator in the Louisiana Swamp exhibit at the zoo.

Helping bolt bookcases to the wall.

Our first attempt at sidewalk chalk.

Squirmy family.

Only in New Orleans... there was an armed robbery and shootout at the bakery we go to after yoga on Saturday mornings (there was an armed off-duty parole officer in the bakery during the robbery who pulled his gun and, during a shootout, wounded one of the robbers). The bakery proceeded to make "gunshot cookies." We had to buy one. I think it's probably in poor taste to make baked goods in reference to someone getting shot, but it seems like the kind of beautifully wry and humorous reaction a New Orleanian would have to such an event.

Halloween preview

Elio tried on his Halloween costume the other day. He and his buddy Mose are going as Obama and Biden. I am overcome with glee at how adorable Elio looks in his little suit!

Oh, the humanity

He's like a ninja with those yardsticks.

In other Elio news, he's got three teeth coming in right now. About time we upgraded from four!

Here's a short movie of Elio demonstrating musical aptitude.

Here's Elio dancing to the newest Captain Bogg and Salty album (and consuming some other music in his own way).

I hope you don't think this makes us look like bad parents... but it was just too funny to watch Elio try to eat hot hot salsa like his Dad.

Walking the Doodle

Whenever Elio and I go outside to play, the Doodle follows right along. He just wants to be a part of the action.

Climbing up our neighbor's steps, while holding onto some pine needles.

Playing with Ella while her dad's band, Los Po-Boy-Citos, plays.

Relaxing in the park with Justin and Mose.

Chillin'.

Talking on the gatormaphone.

At Audubon Zoo with Uncle Len. Note the stream of water the elephant is pouring into Elio's head.

Reading with Mose.
