Helio/Elio

Part of the inspiration for the name was an amazing Brazilian artist we like named Hélio Oiticica. When we were deciding whether to get rid of the silent H to avoid pronunciation confusion, we googled both Hélio and Elio. We found out that Elio without an H is a name in Italian, and also Spanish. The first things that came up were the terrific blog of an art student ("my name is elio. i like to paint and draw"), a race car driver (Hélio Castroneves), and a magician. For some reason, that random combination seemed auspicious.
